About the Role
Mercy Community is seeking a passionate and dedicated Counsellor to join our team in Toowoomba. This is a part-time, 18-month contract, working four days per week, with Tuesdays as a compulsory workday. This is an exciting, newly created position within our Women’s Health and Wellbeing Program.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive, collaborative, and enthusiastic team, working under the guidance of an experienced Team Manager and Senior Program Manager.
As a Counsellor, you will provide trauma informed services with a focus on counselling, as well as the development and facilitation of therapeutic programs, including group work assessments and interventions for women who have experienced gender-based violence. This role partners with women to understand and respond to their individual needs and codevelop plans of action towards empowerment, holistic health and social connectedness.
$44.58 - $47.97 per hour (SCHADS level 4) plus superannuation plus salary packaging available
This roles involves but not limited to
- Provide person-centred trauma-informed counselling services to clients though face-to-face, telephone and web-based modalities
- Work independently and collaboratively with the other Counsellors, Women’s Outcome Workers, Team Manager, and Program Manager in relation to each woman’s individual circumstances
- Working respectfully with clients, taking into consideration past generational trauma
- Engage people accessing the service in respectful and just ways that promote dignity and self-determination
About you
As the successful applicant, you will possess:
- 3 or 4 year tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline
- Eligibility for membership associations including, but not limited to, the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australian Psychological Society (APS)
- Current and valid Provisional Green (P2) or above Drivers License
- Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check) or able to apply
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
