Accountant / Payroll Lead – Join CGC’s Growing Team
As CGC continues to expand across Queensland and nationally, we’re looking for a skilled Accountant/Payroll Lead to join our Corporate Services team and help shape the next phase of our growth.
This role is perfect for someone who is:

✔ Hands-on enough to run payroll and streamline data flows
✔ Process-driven enough to reduce double handling and manual errors
✔ Confident enough to communicate with leaders, auditors, insurers, and project managers
✔ Practical enough to thrive as an individual contributor in a small, collaborative team
What You’ll Own
1. Payroll (End-to-End)
- Complex allowances, shift penalties, overtime
- Timesheet reconciliation, approvals, onboarding/offboarding
- Compliance and award interpretation
- Xero payroll configuration and optimisation
2. Core Finance
- AP/AR, bank reconciliations, payment runs
- Monthly & weekly financial reporting
- Revenue tracking and contractor invoicing cycles
- Month-end processes, BAS support, audit preparation
3. Board & Management Reporting
- Contribute to monthly board pack (financials, P&L, KPI dashboard, project metrics)
- Cashflow tracking and simple forecasting
- Support activities including ASIC updates, insurance renewals, documenting controls
4. Process Improvement
- Cost centre & project reporting
- Reduce manual handling across timesheets → payroll → invoicing
- Introduce automation and optimise existing systems
Ideal Background
- Experience of working within professional consultancy (essential)
- 5–10 years accounting experience (CPA or CA preferred)
- Strong payroll experience with complex allowances
- Proficient in Xero (essential) and comfortable owning it end-to-end
- Experience preparing board or management reports (essential)
- Solid communicator who thrives in small, growing businesses
