Job Geotechnical Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Ravenswood Gold.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will report to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and be a vital member of the Mining Department. You will be responsible for providing technical input across a broad range of production activities including Wall Stability; Monitoring; Void Management; input into mine design and assisting with managing the mining activities in the pit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Review and communicate work practices to reduce the risk of injury from geotechnical hazards and monitor that all work activities and plans comply with the Ground Control

Mangement Plan

• Maintain the site geotechnical monitoring systems and slope monitoring databases.

• Carry out stability analysis of designs through kinematics, empirical and numerical techniques.

• Coordinate routine inspections and report all significant ground related incidents.

• Regular mapping of pit surfaces and collection of geotechnical data.

• Timely validation and interpretation of geotechnical data, through ongoing data collection and evaluation.

• Support completion of monthly and ad hoc reports on data gathering, evaluation, designs, monitoring and geotechnical performance.

• Provide meaningful input and revisions to the Ground Control Management Plan.

• Coordinate the use of consultants for geotechnical design and manage geotechnical contractors.

• Liaison with Mining Departments, Mine Planning team, Mine Geology Department and Mining Operations.

ABOUT YOU

• An absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards and ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace is essential.

• Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and analytical skills.

• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, Mining) or Geology with post graduate qualification in Geomechanics.

• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and

• Experience using mining software such as Surpac or Deswik (desired)
